Position
The Lean Engineer will apply lean manufacturing techniques to improve product quality and consistency, reduce lead times, and increase efficiencies. Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes in product finishing, assembly, testing, packaging, material storage and handling, shipping and receiving.
  • Work with all levels of the organization to question the status quo and continually make meaningful improvements.
  • Use lean manufacturing and quality tools such as 6S, KPI, VSM, Kaizen, SPC, Pareto analysis, etc. in evaluating and implementing process improvements.
  • Analyze and plan space requirements, workflow, and work force utilization.  Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Drive the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.
  • Establish training documentation regarding technical processes and systems, including robotics and man-machine interface.
  • Coach and train employees in new processes and manufacturing methods.

Qualifications
We require a hands-on professional with superior attention to detail and the ability to think through problems and implement solutions.  The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 5+ years of lean engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.  Black belt certification in lean manufacturing  required (?)
  • Familiar with AutoCad and Solidworks.  Able to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings.
  • Able to aggregate, analyze, interpret and present data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to present information, concepts and plans effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, ERP systems (such as MAPICS) and database systems.
